Paul Della Marta
Head of Catastrophe Research
PartnerRe
Paul is a catastrophe perils expert responsible for leading a team of natural scientists and engineers who set the catastrophe risk management guidelines for PartnerRe. They achieve this through developing a View of Catastrophe Risk based on proprietary and vendor natural catastrophe loss models. During his time at PartnerRe he has applied his scientific skills to a variety of catastrophe risk assessment challenges, from developing Cat models for atmospheric and seismic perils, to applied catastrophe reinsurance and cat portfolio management. Before joining PartnerRe in 2008, he was a post-doc at the Federal Office for Meteorology and Climatology, MeteoSwiss and prior to that obtained his PhD in climatology from the University of Bern. In his career, Paul has authored or co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed scientific papers and was a contributing author to the IPCC special report on climate extremes.
