Dr. Mark Guishard is the Chief Operating Officer of ASU Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS). BIOS is a science and education organization, delivering cutting-edge research in oceanography, climate change, and marine science, fostering understanding and solutions for the challenges facing our oceans. BIOS is part of The Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University, dedicated to addressing the complex challenges of sustainability and the future of our planet.

Mark is a Chartered Meteorologist with over 25 years of experience, including management of the Risk Prediction Initiative at BIOS, connecting a network of climate and catastrophe risk scientists with the re/insurance and risk transfer industry. He was formerly the Director of the Bermuda Weather Service and Chief Administrative Officer at the Bermuda Airport Authority. He serves on Bermuda’s Climate Change Task Force, and has been a Focal Point for Disaster Risk Reduction for the Caribbean, North and Central America under the UN World Meteorological Organization. Mark has a PhD in Meteorology from Penn State University, and a Master’s in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of East Anglia. He is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and a member of the Institute of Directors.
