Imelda Powers, is a Managing Director of Guy Carpenter, and senior CAT Exposure Management Advisor. She has worked in US, UK and China. She advises clients on deriving their own view of catastrophe loss potentials, on model change management and event responses. She applies her research skills to study the uncertainty of the financial impacts from catastrophes, and supports retro and primary insurance clients in their risks transfers.
Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, she was Executive Vice President of the Catastrophe Modelling Group in Towers Waston. She is on the Education Committee of the International Society of Catastrophe Managers (ISCM) and is keen to support the career development of many in our profession.
She received her PhD in Operations Research, with a concentration in game theory, from Yale University. Dr. Powers has published in academic and industry journals, and shared her insights through professional forums.
